These items are typical of the dress worn by various peoples of south-central Asia. The choli langha is similar to the kameez (blouse/tunic) only looser and, generally, longer. Salwar is a short, loose or parallel trouser. Sometimes the kameez or choli langha is worn with a narrow trouser called a churidar. The matching headscarf is called a dupata.
Though the majority of Indian women wear traditional garments at least periodically, the men in India are increasingly adopting more conventional
western clothing.
