Festive family fun was had by all who attended Pestalozzi’s Christmas Market.
With market stalls manned by local crafts people, seasonal treats from the Pestalozzi kitchen, Shetland ponies masquerading as reindeer and a big annual raffle draw, there was something for everyone at the charity’s festive event. Swiss Hall was filled with the smell of mulled wine and the sound of carol singing, encouraging Pestalozzi supporters, students and staff to enter into the Christmas spirit.
“My favourite part was singing along with the Pestalozzi students to the Christmas carols,” said staff member Penny Williams, “although the seasonal sandwich I had for lunch was a close runner up - It was delicious!” Supporter Lorna Deeprose added “My granddaughters really enjoyed meeting Candy and Floss the Shetland ‘reindeer’ and the hot chocolate with marshmallows was a lovely warming treat!”
At the end of the afternoon, fifteen lucky raffle prize winners left with some impressive early Christmas gifts. Prizes were donated by local businesses, stall holders and individuals making a significant contribution towards the grand total of over £1000 that was raised by the seasonal celebration.
Pestalozzi’s CEO Sue Walton thanked market stall holders, raffle prize donors and Pestalozzi friends old and new who supported the event. “This was a delightful way to celebrate the start of the festive season with Pestalozzi staff, students and supporters. On behalf of all at Pestalozzi, I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.”
