The Hastings and St Leonards Wonky WI has been busy with a packed programme of guest speakers, entertainment and other activities – including fundraising for their two chosen charities: Pestalozzi International Village Trust and Dragonflies.

At the Wonky WI Christmas party in December, President Jean Parham presented a cheque for £358 to Pestalozzi. Jean said, "We chose Pestalozzi as one of our charities because we enjoyed meeting Pestalozzi students and hearing their inspirational stories and how they aimed to help their own communities”. Wonky WI members raised funds by giving aromatherapy treatments, holding raffles and organising craft sales.

Pestalozzi’s Fundraising Officer Darren Maylam accepted the cheque on behalf of the charity. "It’s fantastic to have the support of the Wonky WI. We had a lovely festive evening, sharing Pestalozzi’s important work with young people from disadvantaged communities around the world, making some very Christmassy decorations and sampling homemade mulled cider!” he said.

"Pestalozzi is fortunate to have a number of loyal supporter groups in the area,” Darren added. "We’re always looking for other interested groups to help ensure Pestalozzi can continue to give young people the chance to develop their potential, pursue their dreams and go on to make a real and lasting difference in the world.”
