Text message scam

2 July 2014

We have been notified today that a bogus text was received by a member of the public from someone posing as Pestalozzi, asking if they would be interested in 'home schooling'. Following the person's negative response, a further text message was received advising that a large amount of money would be taken from the recipient's account.
Please be assured that Pestalozzi does not contact supporters or members of the general public via text message and that we would never take any amount of money from a bank account without express permission (i.e. a bankers' order).
If you receive any suspicious communications which involve Pestalozzi, please follow these steps:
  • Do not respond to the communication and never provide any personal information.
  • Please ring 101 and report the details to the non-emergency police number, quoting reference '671-2nd July 2014'.

If you are unsure about any item or have any questions please contact Pestalozzi on 01424 870444. Thank you.
