Over 100 people attended the Pestalozzi Open Day on Saturday 1 December, enjoying activities from a walk around the woods on the Pestalozzi estate to Christmas decoration making and carol singing.
Piles of delicious home-made mince pies and lashings of mulled wine and warm spiced apple juice left guests happy and contented. The old-fashioned carol sing-along was a great hit: Pestalozzi students led the singing, while Pestalozzi staff provided backing music on an eclectic assortment of instruments. After two informative presentations by Pestalozzi students, a festive raffle closed proceedings, with many kindly donated prizes finding new homes (the hand pressed olive oil from Italy was particularly sought after!).
The day raised £560 for Pestalozzi and provided an occasion for the charity to thank the community for their support. "The event was a great success, and it was lovely to see our supporters come together to create such a cosy family atmosphere,” said Abigail Tourle, Head of Fundraising. Susan Walton, Pestalozzi’s Chief Executive, added, "It’s always a pleasure to see so many people enjoying themselves here at Pestalozzi. The mulled wine and mince pies were an added bonus!”
