We have a number of different departments in the charity who all play an integral part in the success of Pestalozzi. Below you can find out more about the staff within Fundraising and Marketing, the Student Programme Team, The Facilities Team and our Support Services.
Sue was appointed as Pestalozzi International Village Trust’s CEO in July 2011. Prior to joining PIVT Sue had a 25-year career in investment banking where she specialised in aviation finance, latterly becoming Head of Structured Finance for Rolls-Royce Capital Limited and Chairman of the British Exporters Association. Sue then turned to the third sector, first taking on the role of Chief Executive of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust and then that of Director (South London) for Groundwork London, an environmental regeneration charity.
Sue is also an Independent Director of Fly Leasing Limited, a NYSE-quoted company, Honorary Secretary of the Sussex Wildlife Trust, a Trustee of the Sussex East Area Meeting of Quakers, President Elect of the Lewes & District Soroptimists and a member of the Corporation of Sussex Coast College Hastings. She enjoys scuba diving and photography, often combining the two pursuits!
Chief Operations Officer
My experience has been varied and following a Master’s Degree (MBA) I have worked in Insurance, Construction, Managing a training division for CIPD qualifications in London, owning a hotel and even working at a Veterinary Surgery. This has all helped me with the wide remit of the Chief Operations Officer role, which I have the good fortune to hold since August 2017. This role manages the Estate and Finance functions.
Finance & Administration Officer
I started my working life in travel but changed career in 2001 when I moved into Accounting. I qualified as a Member of the Association of Accounting Technicians in 2005 and have previously worked in a manufacturing environment in both Hastings and Bexhill before joining Pestalozzi in late 2017. I enjoy travelling and cycling and have completed long distance charity cycle challenges and have also been the local Girl Guide and Brownie Leader in Sedlescombe for the last 10 years. I enjoy volunteering, fundraising for charities and meeting new people from far and wide so when the vacancy arose to join Pestalozzi as the Finance Officer it was too good an opportunity to miss.
Having graduated with a BA Hons degree in Humanities, I exported office furniture to the Middle East & Ireland, travelled there, spent 10 years in Europe and then settled in East Sussex, completed the equivalent of the current Certificate in HR Practice and eventually accepted an amazing opportunity to work for Pestalozzi as HR Officer and have been here 10 years.
Student Programme Manager
After a 10 year career in the Civil Service I decided to change career and work with young people. Before joining Pestalozzi 14 years ago, I worked with young people with special educational needs and emotional and behavioural difficulties. I have a BSc in Health and Social Care and a PG Certificate in Conflict and Development. I joined Pestalozzi after a year overseas and it offered me a perfect opportunity for the world to come to me and to continue my work with young people who are keen to make a difference in the world.
Student Programme Assistant
I work here as part of the Student Programme Team, coordinating student activities, providing support with their studies and mentoring across both year groups. Prior to this, I've worked and volunteered for several non-profit organisations, gaining experience in a number of roles across the charity sector. The curiosity, compassion and enthusiasm of the students is infectious and I feel very grateful that I get to work so closely them every day.
Student Programme Administrator
I started working at Pestalozzi on 11th February 1980 as a secretary in the Warden’s Office. Prior to this I had worked in various secretarial posts back in Staffordshire after leaving school at the age of 16. My time at Pestalozzi has spanned both the old system when children of 10 years of age came to the village and lived in various national houses with other children and housemothers from their own countries. As you can imagine I have seen many changes, shed a few tears, shared a lot of laughter, made lasting friendships and ended up with many adopted sons and daughters from around the world. I can honestly say I have enjoyed every moment here at the Village.
Head of Student Education
With a background in Education, I came to Pestalozzi almost four years ago. It has been a roller coaster ride ever since, managing day to day educational and extracurricular programming, employability skills and career advice as well as overseeing onward education. It is the best job in the world, working with the best people in the world!
Student Programme Officer
Fundraising & Marketing Manager
I'm a passionate believer in the power of education to change lives and have helped strengthen universities and schools throughout the world. Now my role is to enthuse our donors and engage new supporters so Pestalozzi can continue to help young people make their dreams to improve their own societies come true. Together we can make a difference and give the gift of an education.
Having been involved with marketing and digital media for the last 8 years, I have found working with all the team at Pestalozzi very rewarding. Over this period social media has expanded enormously so being involved as it 'came of age' has added greatly to my experience and enjoyment. Currently on Maternity Leave.
Individual Donor Fundraiser
My background is in arts and heritage fundraising, with a focus on education in museums and galleries. I worked at Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums for 8 years before joining Pestalozzi in 2017. I've always been passionate about the power of education to make a difference in people's lives, and working at Pestalozzi I can share that passion with our supporters every day. As Individual Donor Fundraiser, I love working closely with our supporters and listening to the many stories they have to tell about Pestalozzi. I’m looking forward to meeting many more of you in the future!
Having been involved with technology, sales, marketing and communications - including the charity sector, it was serendipity that landed me living on the estate and home of Pestalozzi. Helping organisations to expand, plus play a part in improving any youngsters' opportunities has always been an objective of mine. Having the chance to do this - worldwide - is great fun and very satisfying.
Having graduated with a BA (Hons) degree in Sport Journalism from the University of Brighton, I was keen to get into the world of work. Pestalozzi offered me the chance to do just that and, with the skills I have learned, I enjoy helping promote the reach of the charity through the power of social media.
