Archive Project

Hugh Alexande (founder) and his wifeIn 2009, the Heritage Lottery Fund awarded us with a grant to set up the Pestalozzi Archive Project. This project celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Pestalozzi International Village Trust. The grant enabled us to preserve the legacy of the Pestalozzi Trust in East Sussex and its involvement with the local community.

The extensive paper, film and photographic archive was catalogued, and is now accessible via East Sussex Records Office and Screen Archive South East. Members of the public, alumni and staff of Pestalozzi were invited to contribute to the project by recording their memories of the Trust or donating memorabilia.

An exhibition recording Pestalozzi’s unique history was mounted at the Hastings Museum and Art Gallery in 2011. This illustrated Pestalozzi’s many changes over the years, the various groups who have called Sedlescombe their home, and their reasons for being there. The exhibition, including a DVD (see below) and short talk, is available to interested groups on request.
