Musaknyakombe Munjile (nee Mwape) graduated from Pestalozzi in 2008 and earned a University of Brighton Pestalozzi scholarship to continue her studies. Musa has recently been selected for the Barclays Pan African Graduate Development Programme.

After Pestalozzi, I studied a BSc Economics and Finance degree at the University of Brighton, graduating in July 2013 with an upper 2:1. I returned home to Zambia and I was lucky enough to get a job with PwC, I worked there as an assistant tax consultant until January 2014.

I then moved to Barclays Bank Zambia and joined the 2014 Pan African Graduate Development Programme. The application process was very competitive and only 220 graduates were selected from around 13,000 applications from across the continent.

The programme is a rigorous management training course, which lasts 18 months. During this time I will have the opportunity to work in different departments across the business. We will also have four summits in the next months in South Africa and Mauritius, where we receive training on various aspects of the business.

It has been a wonderful journey so far, and I look forward to greater things! I have also been lucky enough to work and collaborate with graduates from South Africa, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Mozambique, Egypt, Kenya, Uganda, Ghana, Botswana, Zambia, Mauritius and the Seychelles. It makes me look forward to the wonderful things our continent is yet to achieve.

I am currently doing my MBA, too, through distance learning with the University of Nicosia in Cyprus. I was awarded an 80% scholarship by the university, which makes it much more affordable.

On another note, those of us on the programme have been given a target of £57,182 (ZMW 500,000) to raise for charity in the next six months and we will carry out various fundraising events: comedy shows, sports tournaments and bake sales. We are doing this in order to make other people’s lives better.

Thank you to my Pestalozzi family for all the support you have given me throughout the years.I hope to be a blessing to other people as Pestalozzi has been to me.
