We would like to ask for your help NOW to make this year’s BigGive Christmas 2018 Challenge more successful. You can do this by becoming a ‘Pledger’.
Your support will help our 16 students from some of the most disadvantaged communities in the world to complete their A-Level studies in the UK and to embark on their careers or further studies.
Pestalozzi is on the brink of exciting changes to ensure the ways we support high achieving low-income students are even more cost-effective, but first we need to make sure the students who have started two-year courses can complete them.
Supporting these students to gain the skills, knowledge, and academic qualifications they need to continue their journeys means they will be able to reap the benefits of your generosity and other supporters like you.
These will be the last students to live and study at the Pestalozzi International Village in Sussex, and we urgently need to raise money so they are able to finish the 2019 academic year.
Pestalozzi receives no government funding and is entirely supported by donations from generous individuals, grant-making trusts and foundations, the corporate sector, events and legacies.
Our Christmas Appeal provides an essential contribution and, by combining with theBigGive, this means any pledged amount can be worth up to FOUR times as much!

Why The BigGive 2018 Christmas Campaign is so important?
The Big Give 2017 Christmas Campaign raised £22,000 last year – enough to pay the school fees of three students. This year we aim to raise another £20,000 – and the campaign could be worth much more.
The Christmas Challenge is attractive to donors as every £1 they give to us in online donations is doubled. The public appeal releases funds promised by both our key 'pledgers' and institutional donors making every online donation go so much further. This matched funding means each gift is doubled in value. Money pomised as a pledge can be worth four times the value.
Our pledgers are vital to the success of the campaign as they unlock the door which enables gifts to be doubled. They provide the first contributions which helps create a matching pot.
If we are successful in raising our target of £5,000 in pledged funds, we stand a chance of gaining additional matching funds from institutional donors supporting The BigGive. Together they form the matching pot, which is used to double the value of online donations during the campaign from 27 November until 4 December, 2018.
What does it mean to pledge money to the campaign?
‘Pledgers’ are our key supporters who promise to pay £100 or more to the campaign if their gift is matched by online donations.
You will be asked to pay your pledge in December 2018 – once it has been matched by donations in the campaign – and it can be paid online, or by cheque or by direct debit.
Once you become a 'Pledger' you cannot donate more money during the public appeal – but we hope you will encourage your friends and family to support us in this way.
‘Pledgers’ are absolutely crucial to the success of the campaign as without them we would not be able to accumulate the matching funds which make the appeal so attractive.

The BigGive Christmas Challenge – making a bigger difference
The Christmas Challenge is the UK’s biggest online match funding campaign. For seven days, it offers us the opportunity to have donations doubled by giving on theBigGive.org.uk website. Since the Big Give launched the campaign in 2008, the Christmas Challenge has raised more than £90 million for thousands of charity projects.
The Christmas Challenge 2018 will run from midday #GivingTuesday 27th November – midday Tuesday 4th December, when donations to Pestalozzi International Village Trust can be doubled.
We will be asking all of our supporters, their families and friends to give generously during this period as all the funds raised will make a difference to our students. Our Newsletter, social media and website will all be focusing on our students to remind supporters how the Gift of Education makes a world of a difference.
