Lewes Friends of Pestalozzi Christmas concert

All are welcome at the annual Pestalozzi Christmas Concert. This year it will again be held at St. Michael’s Church, High Street Lewes, at 7.30pm on Wednesday 5th December. The cost of admission is £12 payable at the door, or £10 by telephoning 01273 475172 by 1st December. This includes mince pies and tea/coffee.

At the heart of the concert will be the Choir, whose members enjoy coming together especially for this event. Roger Durston, former Director of the East Sussex County Music Service and founder of the East Sussex Bach Choir, is directing them again this year with a selection of carols and other works, old and new, and with opportunities for audience participation. They will be accompanied for the second year running by local organist, Nathan Waring.

This year’s guest soloist spot will see the return of last year’s star turn, Lucinda Houghton, soprano.  Lucinda has performed as a soloist and choir member with most of the leading London-based choirs and consorts and is part of a talented musical family.  Last year she was joined by her husband, Simon Charlesworth, baritone; this year we again hope to have family support !

Lastly there will be the contribution of the students from the Pestalozzi Village at Sedlescombe.   Pestalozzi’s Chief Executive, Sue Walton, will also say a few words at the concert about the exciting new programme of support that the charity will be offering to high-achieving low income young people from July 2019.

The proceeds from the concert will go to supporting the students who so delighted the audience last year and will be performing again.

Please do come along on 5th December for what may be the last of these ever popular concerts.
