Pestalozzi International Foundation want to update its supporters about how the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation is impacting the current Pestalozzi-UWC scholars at UWC Atlantic in Wales and some of our alumni around the world.
UWC Atlantic are reviewing the situation on a daily basis with members of the Management Team, putting in measures and restrictions around student travel, visitors and staff, making every effort to minimise the risk to the college community. As far as we know, no one at the college has been affected by the virus at this stage.
As of 13 March the college have made the decision that all first year students are requested to leave campus as soon as possible and no later than 23 March. Those unable to leave for compelling reasons will be supported on campus or with a host family. First year students will be taught through distance learning.
Four of the five Pestalozzi students will be returning to their home countries next week and the other will remain with a host family until she returns home at the end of term.
Feedback from some of our overseas alumni indicates that a number of them are being impacted with college closures and a move to online teaching, particularly in the US.
