Below you can find out more about the team at Pestalozzi.
Student Scholarship, Alumni Relations and Development Fund Manager
After a 10 year career in the Civil Service I decided to change career and work with young people. Before joining Pestalozzi in 2003, I worked with young people with special educational needs and emotional and behavioural difficulties. I have a BSc in Health and Social Care and a PG Certificate in Conflict and Development. I joined Pestalozzi after a year overseas and it offered me a perfect opportunity for the world to come to me and to continue my work with young people who are keen to make a difference in the world.

I've been working in marketing for the last 7 years, and have found the last 3 years at Pestalozzi very rewarding. After working in Brighton for a digital marketing agency for three years whilst living in St Leonard's, I wanted to find work closer to home. I'd heard about Pestalozzi and even visited when I was in primary school, so getting to know the students first hand and working for such an inspiring cause makes it a pleasure to come into work. I'm responsible for all of Pestalozzi's marketing including managing the website, social media and producing print materials such as the newsletter. The role is so varied and no day is the same.
My work experience has been varied starting as a film editor, I moved on to marketing, fundraising and organising events and concerts. I then moved to Wales where I ran a Pub, Restaurant and Hotel. After returning to Kent I qualified as a teacher with a BA (Hons) degree. I taught in various schools specialising in Emotional & Behaviour Disorders, working my way up to becoming a Head of School. I then had the opportunity to return to events and fundraising where I am now helping to improve the education of young people from around the world.
I’ve always had a love of maths, so it was no surprise to anyone that my working career has always been in finance. I worked for various companies in London, as I lived in Barnet for many years, before moving to Hastings in 2017. I love Hastings - the sea, the wonderful views, the friendly (and quirky) people, the music scene – I am here to stay. I enjoy cycling and running, even managing to complete the Hastings Half Marathon in 2019.
I was pleased to be offered a role with Pestalozzi, as I am very aware of the good work the charity has achieved over many years.

Database and Alumni Officer
Following a degree in Biology/Ecology at York University and then a PGCE in Bath, Nigel went on to teach Rural Science in a secondary school. He then worked as an Education Officer for the RSPCA in NW England, later moving to work at their nature reserve near Hastings. The next stage in his career, with the ILEA at a residential field study centre in Kent, was cut short after a few years by Government cuts in education funding. Nigel then taught Key Stage 2 pupils for ten years at a Primary School near Eastbourne, also becoming Computing Co-ordinator. In 2001 he moved to be Head of Computing/Database Manager at Dulwich Prep School in Cranbrook, from where he retired in 2017. He started volunteering with PIF the following year and is currently working part-time managing the supporter and alumni database.
